the bitumen in the mix shall be between 5% to 5.5% what does its mean?How to calculate

Solve: At first we take a bituminous carpeting road's cake from the road.its contain

16mm,12mm,6mm,dust and bitumen(For 25 mm dense carpeting road).We may cut 6inx6inX25mm

cake.Then calculate,

150/1000 x 150/1000 x 25/1000 = 0.15 x 0.15 x 0.025 = 0.0005625 cum

Lets heat 0.0005625 cum cake by patrol.Then it separated from bitumen and stone and 

stone dust.Then weight the separated materials.We may assume that we get the weight

of cake is 1kg.stone and stone dust weight shall be 0.95 kg and bitumen weight shall

be 0.05kg. 

Bitumen Contains = (Bitumen's weight/Cake weight)x100 = (0.05/1)  x 100 = 5%
